Seriously - make the designer of this shoe company president and don't even think about "improving", discontinuing or changing this shoe in any way. No - gel insoles is not an improvement. Lightweight so u don't get tired walking in them. Very good support - I actually believe they improved my flat arches. All black and cute design make them versitile and attractive. I've been meaning to send u a note to tell u how fabulous these shoes r. I've bought them a few times before. Pls don't blow this by changing them in some unnecessary way like they always do with make up. I call it the Heath and beauty conspiracy - when they find out I love it, they enhance it in some way that ruins it or they discontinue it. Plz don't do that with these shoes. They are already perfect. Good job!!!!!!

I am prompted to write this review for a variety of reasons, because I want to tell people some MAJOR pros/cons about the product that I didn't always see listed in other reviews (see the cons below). I have had many different pairs of Skechers over the years and own four pair at the moment, so I am obviously a fan.

PROS:

First, let me say that for the shoe itself, I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE it. You can start wearing them all day long straight out of the box. I had never had the type of shoe without actual laces and was a little apprehensive as to whether they would "keep their shape" and not stretch out. My consensus is that they are fine after 6 months of use every day, all day! Awesome.

I also like the fact that they are flexy so that I can grip with my toes if I am climbing up somewhere.

They are very, very airy from the "vents" on the side which I really love, especially during the summer, but be aware of that when it turns a bit colder (aka 50 degrees or less) – your tootsies will also get cold.

The insoles are incredibly comfortable and help keep these shoes super light – it's almost like you're not even wearing any shoes.

They have also helped me IMMENSELY with my knees that were injured for a few months. These shoes allowed my knees to properly heal and not put any stress or weight on them.

Okay, so now to the cons below.

CONS:

This is a huge, huge, HUGE con for me, and is now actually making me mad. I would have otherwise rated these shoes as a 5 if I did not have this problem, and I have seen MANY other people (not so much on here, but on google searches) that have asked the same questions about this shoe with only a so-so answer from Skechers that doesn't even help.

IF YOU GET THE EVA/MEMORY FOAM INSOLES WET AT ALL, YOU WILL NEED A NEW PAIR OF SHOES.

How do I know this? I am about to go get my third pair of these shoes in the last 11 months because of this problem. The first time, I was walking in the cemetery and the blades of grass were damp, which got the shoes damp. This proceeded to give them a HORRIBLE smell by the end of the night. I went this website and on google for an answer. Many people all asked if these shoes are washable or if the memory foam inserts are removable because of the smell and they needed to be washed, and so a Skeechers representative (Tim?) said you can wash the shoes but have to air dry them and they should be fine. THIS IS NOT TRUE. I washed and air-dried that particular pair three times and if I wear them for an hour, that horrid smell comes back. SO, I gave Skechers the benefit of the doubt and figured maybe I got a bad pair or something. NOPE.

On to the second pair of Skechers. I went to a concert and was squished up in front of the stage (LOTS of people there). Queue the drunk chick from hell + a plastic glass with an inch of melted ice to the right of my feet + drunk chick trying to get in front of me (NOT HAPPENING) = spilled water on shoes. DAMMIT. I just got these a month and a half ago! Grumble grumble grumble. Put the shoes in the wash again this weekend, waited three days before wearing them (wanted to make sure they were thoroughly dry), and... THE HORRID SMELL IS BACK. Ugh. Now I have to get ANOTHER pair! And I was super, duper careful to make sure these wouldn't get wet until drunk chick showed up.

I am almost leaning towards NOT getting this particular style shoes strictly BECAUSE of this problem, but I really love how comfortable these are. I am poor, so it's quite difficult to get a new pair of shoes this many times in a year, but I am going to try to find a way.

For now, I will leave one of these pairs in my trunk in case of an earthquake emergency where I can grab these as a second pair.

If Skechers can come up with a solution to this issue (hey, you have a lot of shoes with this type of insole, maybe you want to look into this problem), then I will be a fan for life of these particular shoes. Until then, please be aware of these pros and cons!

Comments about Gratis - In Motion:

I have purchased 6 pairs of these shoes over the past few years, I have 4 pairs of black, a navy pair (trimmed in neon pink) and a gray pair (trimmed in neon green). Apparently the colors are not made any longer as I can only find black on your website. These are my favorite shoes. I wear them all summer long instead of sandals. They are the most comfortable shoes that I own. They are difficult to find in stores locally as they are always out of stock. I guess other women like them, too. Please consider making the colors again as I plan to wear this shoe as long as I can find them, the colors are fun!

I absolutely adore these shoes. I am 59 years old and can count on one hand the number of tennis shoes I've had since I was about 14 years old. In fact, I hate tennis shoes, but not these. They are terrific! My arch never felt so good. My only regret is that I think they only come in black. I'll know for sure today, as I am going to look for them at the mall. Thanks Skechers, kudos on a job well done!!!!!

The Gratis shoes have a good traction outsole. These are not considered to be a non slip or Slip Resistant traction outsole if you need that type of shoe for a workplace requirement. There are several shoes available in our Work category that have that type of outsole.

This shoe is free from leather or suede, so it is classified as a vegan shoe. There are many other shoes on skechers.com that are vegan, pretty much any shoe that does not contain any leather or suede in the upper is considered Vegan. Skechers uses water-based adhesives as well. See the full selection by selecting 'Vegan Shoes' under Technology. www.skechers.com/en-us/all-styles?technology=vegan-shoes

              A:

The Gratis - In Motion is a bungee laced shoe, so it is meant to stretch to fit your foot naturally. If the fit is a bit too tight in the instep, a little wear should help to stretch out the bungee. If it's too loose for comfort, some customers advise they can tighten up the bungee by tying a small knot in the laces, then hiding the knot under one of the fabric panels.

I've had my Gratis - In Motion for over a year (love them by the way) and I wear them most everyday, however, the material on the outside is starting to tear and this concerns me. The Gratis - In Motion shoe should last longer than a year in theory, but it depends on several different factors. One of the things we encourage is to give the upper a treatment with a fabric 'rain and stain' treatment to keep them protected.

The Gratis - In Motion has no leather in the upper, so it should be safe to machine wash them or get them wet. I'd recommend washing on the gentle cycle, placing both shoes in a laundry bag or pillowcase, and air dry only.

Three colors of the Gratis - In Motion are available in a wide width. The current wide width available in these shoes and several others is a women's D width, the standard wide. I would also recommend the EZ Flex and Flex Appeal shoes available in the wide widths, they have Memory Foam insoles for added support and comfort.

              A:

Skechers currently does not make women's shoes in a size 10 1/2. Like with most women's shoes, the next higher size up from size 10 is size 11. In reality, it's much more of a half size bigger than a whole size. If the size 11 is not much bigger, I would advise going with that and adding an insole, gel heel cup or heel sizing pad to them so they are comfortable.

              A:

The Gratis shoe should be nicely roomy in the medium width, and in the wide width you can cinch the fit a bit with the stretch laces. You may want to go with the wide width and wear a thicker athletic sock with the shoes to make up the loose fit.
