I had polio when I was a baby. Shoes are always such a problem for me. I need extra wide heels for stability and high tops for support. All the high top tennis shoes now have pretty narrow heels and so I haven't been able to find anything at all that would work until these!! I am so happy to just have the one pair of shoes that will finally work! When I buy shoes I have to buy 2 pair because my feet are very different sizes. Even though they are a little pricey I am going to order two more pairs just to have when these wear out, to be sure I have something that I can walk in, looks nice, and above all WORKS!! Thank you for designing something that people with a disability can wear and feel safe in.

I bought these shoes in-store. Carlos from the Universal City Walk store gave us (my husband and I) GREAT customer service and the store was nice and clean. I usually wear a size 8.5 but they do not carry half sizes in this style. The 9 was too large but the 8 fit just right.

I really like the look of these shoes. I wore them once to work with jeans; they were comfy and looked great! I wore them again today to work with jeans but had a lot of walking to do. I had to walk about 5 city blocks through San Francisco. Once I got back to my desk I realized something dragging on the floor as I moved my foot. Those black pieces were starting to fall off! I really thought I had purchased a pair of quality shoes for a deal. I am so so so sad. :(

I will definitely be returning these shoes. I am wary of getting a new pair in the same style since there is another reviewer with the same issue.

Comments about Bright Idea - Elevated:

Regretfully the size 6 I had ordered, were a half size to big (long), so I returned them, however, since I really loved how they looked, and felt, I knew my sister would love these too, especially since they come in gray, so I ordered a pair in her size. Please be advised, my "true to fit", might be different then your "true to fit", so where the size 6 was just a tad to big (long), it might end up being perfect for you, or be good enough when adding insoles, or wearing thicker socks. I just prefer shoes that have no gaps, or have to modify to make them fit better. If you like looser fit, and are truly a size 5.5, then 6 will be perfect.

There are some cute summer boots in stock currently, like the Bobs High-Notes boot in a canvas, denim or lace upper, or the Vaso-Bota which is a leather sneaker-boot. There are some other high tops under casual or sneakers that may appeal. I like the new Flex Appeal 2.0 - In Code or New Recruit high tops that have some fun color choices.

            Q:

Can the Bright Idea Elevated be ordered without the metal gromits around the lace? I work in a metal free department and these sneakers are not acceptable with metal but what I'm looking for. Is it possible to get them without the metal?

              A:

Currently these are made only with the metal grommets in the high top lace up version, but if you like the look, there is a slip on version, the Bright Idea, that has no metal.

It should be pretty fast - in fact, you may not even need to use express shipping to get your order sent in the quickest amount of time, since you're on the West Coast. Usually it takes 3 to 4 days to get an order on the West Coast.

I am interested in the Bright Idea Elevated sneaker in size 10. The site indicates that it is out of stock in size 10. I have been checking back frequently to order the shoe. Is this size going to be restocked, if so what is the anticipated date? If it is not going to be restocked, I'd like to know so that I can stop checking. Thank you.

              A:

It looks like more of the Bright Idea - Elevated in the black color should be coming into stock around late September, so there should be more size 10 coming then. You may want to put in an email reminder by clicking on the size 10 and entering your email where indicated. You will get an email when the shoe is back in stock in that size.

This particular shoe is made of a knit stretch fabric, so it should stretch a bit in a size 8. This particular model isn't made in half sizes, partially due to the stretch design.

Given the whole sizes, your choice would be between the 8 and the 9. I'd imagine that the 8 might be a little small, though the material stretches a bit, and the 9 may be a little large, though you could wear these with a medium-weight sock.

what is the difference in the feel of the heel between the Hollywood rose and the bright idea. is one more comfortable than the other and do they both run the same width wise. just curious cause years ago i got the first wedge sneaker that skechers made and it was very uncomfortable but i believe it was more like a 2 1/2 inch wedge

              A:

The Hollywood Rose shoe does include an internal wedge heel, but the Bright Idea - Elevated does not have an internal wedge. The Bright Idea has about a 1 1/3 inch heel, while the Hollywood Rose has about a 1 1/2 inch heel including the wedge. I have heard that both shoes are nicely comfortable and should fit about the same width wise. The Hollywood Rose does include the Air Cooled Memory Foam insole, while the Bright Idea does not a Memory Foam insole.

These are Retail-Store only shoes, so you'd want to look at the store at the West Covina mall, or if you're around there you may want to look at the store at Moreno Valley, the really large one.

I just saw an ad on TV for Skechers "originals" which are supposed to add a little height to a woman's (not children's) shoe. Are these the ones?

              A:

The Bright Idea does have a little extra height in the heel, though it doesn't have a hidden wedge. You'd want to look at shoes like the OG 85 - Hollywood Rose and other shoes in the Originals collection (click on the link next to Meghan Trainor, or look for Originals under brands to see the full collection).
