For the most part, motorcycle boots are not made to be comfortable to walk in. But, these boots are an exception to that rule. I also found that the rubber compound which the lug soles are made from offers superior traction and durability over motorcycle boots from other manufacturers which cost more than twice the price.

I own two other pairs of motorcycle boots, but these have become my favorite pair. They offer the traction and durability required for riding and are comfortable too. Shine them up and put on a pair of jeans and your ready to ride or go out for a casual night on the town.

The only improvements I would suggest is a thicker cut leather used for the uppers and an 8" version of this same boot. But, I will be purchasing another pair in the future.

I loved these boots when I first got them. They fit perfectly and looked great.

Only a few weeks in things started to crack, however, when one of the pull loops tore nearly in half. Now at barely a year old almost all of the eyelets have bent or kinked revealing sharp edges that saw through shoelaces at the rate of one pair every 4 months or so. Now one eyelet has come loose from the leather entirely effectively ending the useful life of these boots.

Disappointing build quality from what traditionally has been a high quality company.

      Comments about Mariners - Pilot:

These are work boots that I ordered for my husband. He has a very wide foot and always has trouble finding work boots to fit. When I saw these boots online I thought I'd give them a try. He loves them. He's totally satisfied and best of all his feet didn't hurt from the get go. He'll order these again when they get worn out. We don't expect them to do that for a long while as they are very well made. As any one whose feet have been in uncomfortable shoes can attest, nothing is worse than hurting feet. He's happily working which makes me happy.

I recommend looking in the Work category, and selecting 'Waterproof' under Collections. You should see several options - the Blais - Bixford ST, Blais ST shoe, Radford WP Comp Toe, Vostok Comp Toe, and Energy - Clan WP models.

          Q:

I am a mariner and a pilot. I would like to know difference between Men's Mariner and Men's mariner- Pilot shoes. It would be nicer if there is a tool to compare skechers products.

I am looking for non slip shoe with shock absorbing sole, light weight and comfort. Many Mariners like Rebok Air Max for comfort and shock absorber though that is not to resist slip.

          thanks and regards

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

While the Mariner and Mariner - Pilot boots take their inspiration from technical footwear, they do not have slip resistant soles. I could recommend something a bit more technical for your needs, like the Soft Stride - Hemi or Energy - Clan boots, which have more protection and slip resistant soles, or the Verdict boot, which is seam-sealed waterproof.

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

The Mariners - Pilot boot is not waterproof as it comes, but the leather upper can be given a spray treatment to be water resistant. I would recommend taking a look at the Verdict boot, that boot is waterproof right out of the box.

How do I know if I need a wide width or medium width? I wear a size 12

          1 answer

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

If you normally wear a medium width, you would want to order these in a medium. If you normally wear a wide width shoe or boot, you would want to order a wide width, which is a men's 3E width. If you're not sure, you can download and print our men's Fit Guide measurer that shows you the size and width that should work best for you.

          Q:

I want to replace my old Mariner Pilot boots, which I love, with a new pair. I don't remember the width though. The tongue tag gives the serial number, color and size, but does not mention the width. The following code appears at the bottom of the tag: F 2 6. Does it reveal the shoe's width?
Asked on 5/12/2013 by RJ the Biker from St Louis, MO

          1 answer

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

The width of your boots is shown on the tag by the style number. The Mariners - Pilot boot is style number 4473, and if you have a medium width boot, it will say just 4473 on the label for the style number. If you have the wide width boot, the style number will be 4473EW.
