Great comfort, poor quality.

Very comfortable shoes, but the quality was very bad. After three months of daily walking, parts of the sole were coming apart and holes in the leather developed.

Can the memory foam be removed from the vigor 2.0?

The Memory Foam insoles are secured down, but should be able to be pulled out if needed.

            Q:

Lately it seems, that when I purchase a pair of sneakers, my big toe wears a hole on the top of it. Whether it's a pair of Sketchers, New Balance, Nike, whatever, it happens to all of them. These appear to have a leather or synthetic to cap. Is this little piggy going to pop up and waste more of my money?

The Vigor 2.0 shoes have a durable toe cap - layered leather, a synthetic toe bumper overlay, and a fabric lining. I'd be very surprised if your toe was able to wear a hole in these shoes.

This model does come with the Memory Foam insoles, but there are other similar 'classic' models like the After Burn that come without the insoles. However, if you feel like Memory Foam is not something you normally like, I'd recommend trying a shoe with the Air Cooled Memory Foam insole - it is super comfortable, keeps cool and dry, and has great support.

Currently Skechers.com carries 70 different shoes in a men's Wide Fit, which is a 3E width. There are an additional 30 shoes available in an Extra Wide Fit, which is a 5E width. This particular Vigor 2.0 Trait model is one of the shoes available in a Wide Fit, the option is under 'Width' on the product page.

The wide fit in this Vigor 2.0 shoe is equivalent to a men's 3E width, which is very close to a 4E.

            Q:

I purchased these shoes while on vacation in Florida. The first day I wore these, I almost slipped and fell in a restaurant. I figured there was something oily on the tile floor.

When I got back to NYC, I realized that the traction on these shoes are terrible when the soles are wet. Trying to walk on terrazzo floors is terrifying if my soles are wet from rain outside. I even slip when I step on the white lines in the crosswalk! Is there something I can do about this? I can't return them to the store in Florida, and they have no stores in NY.

            They are incredibly comfortable, though.

No kidding. I bought a pair and broke my leg 2nd day I owned them while walking on tile.
              Bad Bad tread design.
All these other comments are by people that have not worn them on various wet surfaces.
Sketchers has other designs with memory foam and good tread.

There are many Skechers Retail stores in NYC, but you may be referring to a different retailer. The Vigor 2.0 - Trait is not classified as a 'Slip Resistant' traction outsole, but should have decent traction on most surfaces. The rubber soles may need to be 'broken in' a little bit to get the traction where you need it. I recommend walking on gravel or small stones, something like that. It should soften up the rubber and get the tread more grippy.

There are several men's athletic shoes available in the Wide Width, which is a 3E width. I would recommend the Flex Advantage or Synergy - Power Switch for trqaining, and the Men's GOwalk 3 for walking.
