I own 4 pair of Skechers. This is number 4. This is my first pair of Shape-ups. They feel great. They fit well. They support very well. They were stiff at first, but very comfortable after they had a week to be broken in. HOWEVER, this is the first pair of Skechers to let me down in the durability department. I am pretty rough on my shoes. I work in a retail warehouse. This pair has started to split at a seam inside of just 1 month. I usually do not see this happen for, at least, 3 months. This is even more suprising because I have been very careful not to wear this pair for running, hiking, nor recreation. I ONLY wear this pair for work. my previous pairs have endured much more and lasted much longer. =(

I have high arches and somewhat narrow feet. The shape-ups are the best arch support in "off the shelf" shoes without any inserts. I really miss that model of shoe.

I've had four back surgeries & Shape-Ups have been the only shoe can wear!!!!! It's such a shame that someone has ruined that for a lot of people that really need this shoe for any kind of comfort. HELP PLEASE!!!!!

You may want to give some of the new Performance shoes a try - a lot of customers who wear Shape-ups are discovering the Skechers GOrun Ultra, GOrun Ride 3, GOwalk 2 and GOwalk - Move shoes offer the same great arch support and comfort as the Shape-ups. Especially the Ultra.

At one time, there were dozens of models of Shape-ups, but they have since been discontinued in most models. I would recommend taking a look at the Skechers GOrun Ride shoes, or the Skechers GOrun Ultra, both feature great cushioning and arch support that many fans of Shape-ups like.

I would recommend something similar from our GO Athletic collection - the Skechers GOrun Ultra, Skechers GOrun Ride and Skechers GOwalk Move are all very supportive and well cushioned athletic shoes, I also love a good amount of arch support and I'm really liking the Skechers GOrun Ride 2.

              A:

The closest shoe available with a rocker bottom would be the Skechers Work Liv - Brawny. I could also recommend looking at the Skechers GOrun ride 2 or GOwalk 2 for a similarly comfortable and supportive shoe.

          • Q:

Over a year and a half time span I have burned through 3 pairs of the Shape Ups XTs to the tune of about 2300-2500 miles walked on an asphalt track. I weigh 300 plus pounds currently and i try to fitness walk daily in order to change that. i know, sadly, that the XT's have gone the way of the dinosaur and I'm buying them up as fast as I can for a rainy day. There are features of the XTs that i have found very helpful in relieving foot pain and back pain and reduced the shin splints as I walk. The XTs have a portion of the soles that are a really soft foam like material that absorbs the shock of the step which has proven to be a tremendous asset. Please tell me if the AFTER SHOCK is anywhere close to the XTs in comfort support and durability as the XTs or is there another style that would be closer? I have tried several other brands and have ended up with bruising blisters and overall agony as they have all totally destroyed my feet. I desperately need something to support my weight

              A:

I do recommend the Energy - After Burn as a shoe that combines a lot of the support like with the Shape-ups as well as good shock absorbing in the midsole. It's a different design, it doesn't have the rocker bottom, but it's a perennial customer favorite. I could also recommend the Relaxed Fit: Rig or Biped models, the Juke and Kirkwood athletic shoes.

Up until recently, the men's Shape-ups XT were available in a wide width, but that size is currently sold out. You may still be able to find the wide widths for sale on other websites.

              A:

The men's Shape-ups XT shoe adds about 1 1/4 inches to your height, as that is the height of the midsole at the middle part.

              A:

I would recommend using a leather cleaning spray or lotion to clean the men's Shape-ups in white/navy. There are also 'sneaker whitener' sprays that may work. Neutral or white shoe polish would not clean these, and may damage the finish.
