I didn't think that Skechers could ever make a better running shoe than my beloved Resistance Runners, but they went and did it. I picked up a pair of these ProSpeeds recently at a Skechers store, and these are so light weight they're practically not there. But you feel the technology unlike some of those flimsy 'barefoot running' shoes. There's a lot of advanced tech in these runners, and that rocker bottom design really helps to straighten out my gait. I'm running even more with these shoes in more comfort than ever.

This is my first pair of Sketchers and wasn't sure what I was buying until they arrived. I was thoroughly impressed the minute I took them out of the box. The superb packaging, style, extra pair of laces and DVD all added up to "Total Quality" before even trying them on. Once they were on my feet and on the road I was in foot-stomping heaven. Finally, I've found the perfect pair of running shoes. (No joke:) Terry Martin

      Excellent Shoes for Flat Feet

I have been a huge skecher fan since the boys in California came out with them.

I absolutely love these shoes. They are good looking, very light, and bounce back well. I have very flat feet which means they are constantly sore.

My only knock on these shoes, size 12, is that they could use another 1/4 inch in the toe. They are just a hair small but not enough to send back.

I love these shoes and I own 10 pairs of running shoes. These are the ones I run in.

              • Q:

I tore my calf muscle a few years ago. Not a trauma, just from the stress of running. It has healed for walking, but when I try to run on it, after a mile or so, it re-tears (and I have to wait 2 months for it to re-heal...). So I'm looking for a shoe the minimizes the load on my calf muscle when I run. Do you think the mid-foot strike would accomplish that? And which particular shoe would go the furthest in that direction? Many thanks.

                  A:

You may want to consult a doctor regarding the muscle tear, and see if a midfoot strike would be recommended for helping to minimize stress on your legs. I'd recommend at least trying on a shoe like the ProSpeed or Pro Resistance to see how a midfoot strike feels.

                  A:

Because the ProSpeeds are running shoes, they are made to fit a bit more snug than a walking type shoe. If you feel that you can wear the shoes - you may want to try a thinner running-style sock as well - you may want to keep the same size and allow the shoes to stretch a bit.

                  A:

If by 'ramp' you mean the difference between the heel height and the midsole height, then the GOrun has a very minimal one, about 4mm. The ProSpeed is a rocker bottom design, so the midsole is actually a bit higher than the heel. I'd say the midsole is about 1 1/2 cm higher.

              • Q:

I have a pair of ProSpeed SRRs that I bought on clearance, a half size smaller than my norm. They’ve done well by me and I’m looking to get another (larger) pair as I step up to, I hope, marathon mileage. I assume my present shoe is an older model. I’ve not found the current ProSpeed in local stores so will order off the web. Before doing so, could you confirm a couple of key points?

Cushioning and a fairly rigid foot bed are important to my feet. Is the shoe sole and the tongue at least as cushioned currently as it was before? In order to control sesamoiditis, I need to roll forward on the rocker with minimal bending in the metatarsal area. Some of your rocker shoes, unfortunately, seem to have more flex. Would you expect the dynamic of the current ProSpeed SRR to have remained consistent?

I would emote re the superiority of your rocker bottom and support system over running with a rigid plate under the insole. Character-count constraints precluded my doing so.

                Thanks.

                • CUSTOMER CARE

                  A:

The current model of the ProSpeed SRR should be similar to the earlier model - you may have the Resistance Runner SRR shoe, which is a similar design as the ProSpeed but a bit heavier. The ProSpeed should be a good shoe for your needs - it is the lightest weight shoe in the SRR running collection, yet still has the Dupont Hytrel stabilizing midsole that provides the rigidity and stability that you would like. I would recommend that you try the ProSpeed in the size you normally wear in a running shoe.

I would recommend the Pro-TR for a stability style of running and training shoe. While the ProSpeed does have decent stability, it's best used for neutral gaits. If you tend to pronate or supinate when running or walking, you may want to look at the Pro-TR.

Shape-ups and Pro series shoes have a rocker bottom that supports the arch but takes pressure off the heel and forefoot - I'd recommend looking into the ProSpeed or any of the other rocker bottom shoes like the LIV, Surge, or Shape-ups.

I walk four kilos (2.5-3 miles) everyday but I always have a pain in my left knee, what type of skechers shoes is good for me? I saw the SRR Prospeed Running Shoes (52086/WNV), and it seems good but aren’t they for running only (i.e. not very comfortable/effective for walking)? Also, is the mid-foot strike good for walking only and does not hurt the knee?

The ProSpeed and other SKECHERS Fitness shoes are also fine for walking - the same principals for midfoot strike running also apply to running, they provide excellent support and shock absorption. I also recommend the Shape-ups LIV shoe for walking.
