This is my second pair. It took 2 years to wear out my first pair, which I wore almost everyday - year 'round. At first I use them as dress shoes and casual everyday wear. Then as the leather becomes scuffed up, I use them for hiking, work and hunting in mild weather. The memory foam provides comfort for standing lots of hours at a work station. When I purchased my first pair of these shoes / boots my number one goal was to find the most comfortable shoe available. But these shoes look nice enough to wear to church on Sunday or to make a courtroom appearance. These shoes have an aggressive tread with the rubbery Vibram feel of a high end boot suitable for the outdoors. The factors that led to my purchase of these shoes were (1) comfort, (2) tread and (3) attractive design, in that order.

I bought a pair of these boots 10 years ago and they finally wore out. They were comfortable, fit correctly, and were quality. I ordered another pair and it was like a completely different boot. It was a full size too big and the footbed was no longer comfortable. It felt raised above the rear arch support. Really odd. So I sent them back. Super disappointed and I'll move on from Skechers after this.

Bought 1st pair in 2005. Lasted till 2 months ago. Glad the same boot was still available. Had to order for delivery since store did not have size I needed. These new boots have memory foam which the old ones did not. Can wear them longer due to more comfort. I hope these last another 10 years.

              Q:

What length replacement laces do I need for the Bruiser boot?

              • Staff Reviewer

                A:

Typically you will find a 'boot length' lace set as a replacement, usually that's 56 inches or so. I'd recommend that length unless you like a longer length for a double knot tie.

It is possible that some Skechers Retail stores will carry these, or if not they will help you find your size and have them sent to you.

The Bruiser boot should be returning to stock in about a week or less. Sold out temporarily, but more is coming soon.

If you would normally wear a size 9, you may want to try that same size in the Bruiser boot.

The external heel height is one inch, or 2.5cm. The interior would add maybe another .5cm or so to that height, so probably 3cm total. If you like a bit more height in the boot heel, the Cascades boot has a bit more of a heel, about 1 2/3 inches, probably 5cm total height.

The Bruiser boot has a heavy duty rubber lug traction outsole, so they should be good for traction. They aren't waterproof as they come, but they could and should be given a leather waterproofing treatment, and they should be very good for winter wear.
