My wife needed a work shoe that was both comfortable and that the entire toe area is protected from wear. Most of the Sketcher work place shoes both safety and non-safety have leather toes that wear out quickly and easily if you have to get down on your knees frequently and rest on your toes. These shoes have a large complete rubberized toe that will not wear as easy as many of the other Sketchers work place shoes. The shoes have a flat looking appearance and yet she reports that they are super comfortable working on her feet and knees all day. After several weeks of wear the toe area at the front of the shoe is holding up perfectly showing no signs of wear.

I expected these to wear out quickly but I wear them nearly every day of the week, so far ( about 2 weeks) they are holding up marvelously! I really like converse but these were a great substitute style wise, especialy since I can wear these to work.

          Q:

Would anyone recommend this for nursing 12hr shifts?
Asked on 4/6/2018 by Patrice from AZ

          • Staff Reviewer

            A:

The Gibson - Hardwood is a decent choice for a slip resistant shoe, but a lot of customers say there is a little less cushioning than other Work models. We do have a shoe specific for healthcare professionals, the Comfort Flex Pro HC model. That shoe is very popular with nurses.

What is the arch like in the shoe I have flat feet and shoes with arches cause lots of pain and discon fort but I need a shoe that's comfortable and prevents the pain from being on my feet for up to 12 hours a day

          • Staff Reviewer

            A:

The Gibson - Hardwood is built like a classic sneaker, it has a decent arch, but there are many other shoes for work I would recommend for better arch support and cushioning. Currently the shoe I'd recommend most for comfort would be the Burst SR - Gwinner model or any of the Relaxed Fit Work models.

          Q:

When will you get size 6 back in stock? Do you sell these work shoes at the physical stores as well?

          • Staff Reviewer

            A:

It looks like the Gibson - Hardwood should be coming back into stock in a size 6 around mid May. These shoes are sold at some of the larger Skechers Retail stores, and if they don't have them, they will ensure you are getting the correct size, and order the shoe for you.

I'm a waitress and I'm on my feet anywhere from 10 to 11 hours a day, I notice my feet hurt less with not to much arch in the shoe, do these have a noticeable arch in them.. thank you

          1 answer

          • Staff Reviewer

            A:

The Gibson model has a bit less arch support than other similar models, so if you are looking for a flatter insole these should be a good choice.

I have Plantar Fascitis, and require good arch support. How is the arch support for this shoe? Can I use inserts with them? If no to both questions, what is a good alternative shoe?

            A:

The arch support in the Gibson - Hardwood is decent, but there are shoes with better support. The insoles are removable in this shoe so you can use inserts in them if needed. I would recommend taking a look at the Skechers Work Shape-ups Liv shoes for arch support.
