I love these shoes!!!! or at least I used to....They look super sharp and feel just right when you put them on when they are brand new. They don't really need a break in time but if they do then they will be broken in within 2 days. I have bought these shoes for the last 2 or 3 years time after time but I am going to stop and let me tell you why. The one bad thing about these shoes is that, in my experience, they wear out fast! It took me a couple years to realize this. Actually, on the contrary, the first few pairs I bought a couple years ago seemed to last longer than they do now by a couple months longer or more. The last four pairs have had to be replaced within ninety days of purchase approximately, which is not durable enough for me. Even though the shoes weren't in need of replacement for ninety days or so after purchase, the shoes actually started falling apart on the inside with big holes inside and the plastic frame of the show exposed within about 30-45 days after purchase. I thought these shoes were durable and long lasting but the last several pairs have fallen apart way too soon and way too easily. I have made the decision to ditch these shoes and buy a pair of Merrell Moab Waterproof Shoes. The Merrell's cost twice as much as these shoes do but seem to last far longer than these shoes do. Time to stop buying these shoes and try the Merells!

I use these for everyday wear and stagewear (musician). The only reason I am "into shoes" is due to foot problems I have - Supination and heel pain. I got them to help with heel pain I have been experiencing recently. I wear a 2E width but had to get the 4E width. Webpage described wide widths as equivalent to 2E and 3E, but 4E is what was sent and is much too wide for me. I subsequently ordered a normal width pair, which has the same issues I will describe. Memory Foam pad is good but not great. There are three things that would make this shoe better - (1) Make in-between widths, as 4E is not for everybody, (2) Add an extra pair of eyelets at the tops of the shoe for snugness (my feet slide down into the shoe thereby causing pain on my arch), (3) Add some kind of arch support. As it is, there is none and it causes pain rather than relieving it. It's a good shoe but needs work. Concept is a great idea but it needs tweaking. These may work for others, but for me, I have to add inserts/orthotics to alleviate problems caused by poor design.

The After Burn should be decent for trekking - it is comfortable and supportive, durable and has a high traction outsole.

              • After Burn - Memory Fit

                Q:

Can anyone decode for me what "SS15/M/005" written on my skechers 50125 mean? Does the "M" in "SS15/M/005" indicate that my shoe is "Medium" wide? I ask because my shoe (skechers 50125, i.e. men's after-burn-memory-fit) has broken and I need to buy new but skechers 50125 is not available in my country anymore so I am ordering via ebay, and want to ensure that I order the correct width. I guess my current pair is "wide" type because I have wide feet and the shoe fits well, but nowhere on it is mentioned that it is 4E or something. All that is mentioned is "SS15/M/005".

                  A:

If your shoes are Wide or Extra Wide, you would see that next to the style number - 50125 - on the label. It should say 50125EWW which is the indicator that the shoes are Extra Wide fit, which is a 4E width. The M in that other code denotes it's a men's shoe. If you are able to ask the seller to verify the style number on the box (or inside the shoe on the label) is 50125EWW that would be the indicator of the Extra Wide Fit.

This depends on if you want a shoe that slips on, or an alternative closure such as straps with hook and loop fasteners. If the straps are what you want, there is a version of this same shoe, the After Burn Memory Fit - Final Cut. There's also a refined sneaker with a three strap front, the Bunker. If you are looking for a slip on style, there are many of those.

I would recommend taking a look at something in the men's Skechers GOwalk 3 shoe collection, those are nicely lightweight but have excellent comfort and arch support. The After Burn is also a classic well liked shoe, with a more built-up design and good support. I can also recommend taking a look at the men's Shape-ups 2.0, many customers recommend that for support.

While a lot of customers enjoy the After Burn for its support and comfort, I could also recommend the Skechers GOwalk 3 shoes for a more lightweight support and comfort experience, or the Shape-ups 2.0 shoes for a very supportive and well cushioned rocker bottom design. The Geo-Trek is also a good shoe with all terrain traction.

While some customers prefer the higher profile and more solid feel of the After Burn, I would probably recommend the Skechers GOwalk 3 for lots of walking. They are very well cushioned, lightweight and comfortable in warm temperatures.
